How do I know if my attic is badly vented?
Shingles aging fast, a baking attic in July, frost inside the attic in winter, or ice at the eaves every year — all of it points at ventilation.
What does the attic have to do with my roof?
A hot attic cooks shingles from underneath and shortens their life. A warm attic in January melts snow that refreezes at the eave and pushes water back under the roof.
Do you add insulation too?
Yes — ventilation and insulation work together. Balanced intake and exhaust, plus insulation that keeps house heat out of the attic.
Will this stop my ice dams?
It fixes the cause. Dams form because the roof is losing heat — ventilation, insulation and shield coverage are the fix.
